LUISA Conference “Marble quarries and ornamental stones: analysis of a crisis, projects and prospects“.

Friday 16 July from 09.45 to 12.45 at the Teatro Centrolucia di Botticino – Via Longhetta, 1 – Botticino
Speech by Dr. Luisa Senini, President of the Consorzio Marmisti Bresciani, together with the speakers from the Province of Brescia, the Lombardy Region, the mayors of the municipalities in the stone sector (Botticino, Nuvolera, Nuvolento, Paitone, Serle), the Brescia industrial association AIB, the Valle Sabbia Mountain Community, FILLEA – CIGL, FILCA – CISL Brescia, the Botticino Classico Marble Producers’ Consortium and the Nuvolera Valley Basin Marble Quarryers’ Consortium.

Luisa Senini, as president of the CMB, an association that gathers 40 stone processing companies, after thanking all the participants in this conference that united all the stakeholders of this important and strategic sector for the province of Brescia, emphasised how the Consortium has always distinguished itself for the valorisation of processing residues (mud and shingles) from stone processing workshops, which were once classified as special waste and are now considered by-products and secondary raw materials.

The know-how of the Consorzio Marmisti Bresciani, which in this field is recognised as a model of national excellence from which other provinces and regions draw inspiration, has in recent years also extended to the management of quarry residues in the Brescia basin. In fact, crushed stone, like mud and shingle, has also become a material that can be reused for a sustainable economy, benefiting the environment and the economy of our sector.

What was once waste, therefore a cost for the company and a problem for the environment, is now a re-use material that corresponds to saving money and soil at the same time.

The choice of natural stone is therefore confirmed as the Green option par excellence not only for its intrinsic constitution and durability, but also and above all for the zero-waste production process.
