CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Oct 6, 2021 | News

The Consorzio Marmisti Bresciani (www.consorziomarmisti.org ) has carried out an ambitious Circular Economy project in partnership with the companies: Senini Stone Srl (www.seninistone.it), Breccia Aurora Srl (www.ghirardi.it), Stil Onix di Tazzoli Francesco e C. (www.stilonix.it) and Gruppo Gatti Spa (www.gruppogattispa.it).

The experimentation, carried out through both in-site campaigns and laboratory activities by Studio MM S.r.l. of Mamiano PR (www.studio-mm.it), was first based on the study and determination of the main chemical-physical characteristics of the main processing residues of the marble and quarrying basin (surface cappellaccio, cutting and grinding muds, shards, etc.).

Once the salient characteristics of the various waste materials available to the Consorzio Marmisti Bresciani had been identified, Studio MM proceeded with the design of mixes, entirely made up of the various waste materials, capable of satisfying the main chemical-physical characteristics, required both for performance and authorisation purposes, for the free marketing of these products.

As a result, a number of aggregate mixtures consisting entirely of processing waste have been created that have passed all laboratory tests and have been deemed suitable for use as aggregates for civil engineering works and sub-bases, backfills, and environmental restoration.

Our new materials are all CE marked according to EN 13242 in compliance with all new regulatory directives on Circular Economy.

In particular, the CE marked products that the Consortium includes are:

– Mix 1: mixture of 0/80 mm recovery aggregates, characterised by an excellent coarse lithoid skeleton and a fine fraction, characterised by modest plasticity. Ideal for backfilling and/or environmental restoration

– Mix 2: mixture of 0/80 mm reclaimed aggregates, characterised by an excellent lithoid skeleton well distributed in the various grain size fractions and characterised by the presence of fine material with very little plasticity. Ideal for sub-bases and road structures in general (lower parts of structures, away from the road surface).

– Mix 3: mix of 0/30 mm reclaimed aggregates, characterised by an excellent particle size distribution and zero plasticity in the fine fraction. Ideal for sub-bases and road structures in general (lower parts of structures, away from the road surface).

– Mix 4: mix of 0/30 mm reclaimed aggregates, characterised by an excellent particle size distribution and zero plasticity in the fine fraction. Designed only for cement-stabilised applications. It is therefore ideal for sub-bases and road structures in general (body of the embankment in place of lime-stabilised soils).
