SENINI STONE, together with the other companies that make up the BRESCIAN LAPID DISTRICT, in collaboration with the Order of Architects of Brescia, organized the conference of Arch. Vincenzo Latina, as part of the Review “Architecture and Criticism,” entitled:
THE ARCHITECT TRANSLATOR

Architecture in the same way as literature, screenwriting, cinematography, art in the broadest and most varied expressions makes use of “re-constructions,” weaves continuous relationships; likewise among the multiple scientific, technical disciplines, places, cities, social and environmental contexts.
The translator does not operate neutrally; in addition to linguistic resources, a deep knowledge of the work, culture and context of origin and that of destination is required. The architect operates in the same way as the literary translator, in this specific case the text to be interpreted is the city, the territory, the architecture, the pre-existing buildings in which to insert grafts between otherness and adaptivity. The architect is never neutral; each work recomposes, renews the text, modifies its writing, its syntax, without changing its meaning.
The lecture will deal with such relations, in which projects, ideas and cities are assumed as a sequence of “fractures” and “settlings,” a continuous “bradyseism” in which some “old” factories of buildings, in the same way ideas and images find rebirth through their actualization and active reuse.
Vincenzo Latina, architect: Graduated from the IUAV of Venice. Since 2015, he is Associate Professor of Architectural and Urban Design at the University of Catania; he has been a lecturer at the School of Architecture in Mendrisio, University of Italian Switzerland. He has exhibited his work in many publications and exhibitionsnational and international and is invited to present his design and research activity in many exhibitions, conferences and conventions. He has received numerous prizes and awards.
